Doctorow At Kemp, 3rd grade uses the Lucy Calkins writing program. This consists of sessions that teach skills such as "Show,, Don't Tell" in a narrative, creating research books and text features in non-fiction writing, and creating strong, well supported statements in opinion writing. Your third grader will also be working on their writing in all sorts of different ways, like writing letters, journaling, responses to literature, character analyses, and creative stories.
